Today was the Flunk Day. This is the day that the college officially provides alcohol drinks with students and that every student looks forward to. At 5am, a group of senior students ran around the residence halls and shouted 窶廬t窶冱 Flunk Day!窶� with hitting each room窶冱 door. I was actually awake at that time since I had been doing my homework. After that, I fell asleep so I don窶冲 know what happened exactly, but according to the email that had sent out to all the students, the party seemed to have started at 10am on the quad. And, of course, all the classes have been cancelled.

This event is just unbelievable, and it won窶冲 happen in Japanese colleges.

Since the day of Flunk Day is decided by a few member of the Student Senate in secretly, almost nobody can project when it is. It could happen when an important event is planned, and today was not an exception; a lecture presentation was planned and was carried out. The lecture presentation was about Holocaust survival. I was planning to attend it, but since today was Flunk Day, I didn窶冲 go. I don窶冲 know how many students attended the lecture, and I guess many students made a similar decision to me. (I can easily imagine that the number of participants was very small.)

My faculty advisor told me that there is a big debate whether this event should be abolished every year. I am sure this topic is also so debatable. I have no idea on it. I actually enjoyed drinking.

However, not all the students got drunk; some of my friends seemed to have studied almost all the day. If today was not the Flunk Day, I would have studied all the day because I am supposed to give a presentation on next Tuesday. But since the class was cancelled, the date is also postponed. I am really lucky! That窶冱 the reason I decided to drink today; in fact, I decided not to drink and haven窶冲 had any alcohol drinks since this January. I drank some cups of beer. Even though I didn窶冲 like the taste of the beer, I really enjoyed drinking with my friends.

The event is still going on. But since I窶冦 kind of hangover, I will go to bed soon.
