 Small Night Concert.

Today窶冱 evening, Gen, my conversation buddy, and I went to the concert. It was held in the small hall in the downtown, Cedar Rapids. Two musicians played many folk or country songs. There is a bunch of people; some are students, some are families, some are older. It was really relaxed atmosphere. I really enjoyed it. (It cost just 4 dollars!)

Since I play the guitar, I focused on their guitar technique. Both were amazingly good. The first musician was obviously influenced by the blues music. In addition, according to Gen窶冱 observation, he imitated Elvis Presley窶冱 behavior. Thus, his music was kind of mixed of these all. That was interesting.

More interestingly, the attitudes towards the music/concert of the both performers showed the contrast; they are actually very different musician. We talked about it after the concert. The first man was trying to amuse the audience. He talked funny stories in between the music many times. Some of his songs were also funny; lyrics made us laugh. His emphasis was on the audience.
On the other hand, second musician seemed not to try to make the audience laugh. It is true his story was interesting to listen to, but it seemed not on purpose. Rather, he enjoyed playing the guitar himself. Some of the songs were instrumental. But his technique was superior. (Unfortunately, due to the amplifier窶冱 bad quality, the sound was unclear.) Many of us was attracted his guitar play. I think his emphasis was also on the audience, but the way was rather different.

Surely both of them enjoyed the concert. Of course, we, the audience, enjoyed the concert too. I wonder and worried about Gen窶冱 coming finals. Despite the fact that he has a lot of exams this week, he invited me. I really appreciate it.
