 Class Visit.

Today, I visited one regular course class. Now I am in the English as a Second Language course, so I don窶冲 take any regular courses except for the Asian lit class. But in the next term, I will take 3 or 4 courses, today was a kind of inspection of the class. I visited the African American Literature class.

The topic was a black woman poet, Gwendolyn Brooks. The professor taught about her history, books, and poems. He read some poems at the latter part of the class. It was 80-minute lecture, it was so long. I got much information.

Because most of the time the professor lectured, and in addition, he seldom asked questions, some students got bored, looked sleepy. They took notes, marked the textbook occasionally. There were 15 students.

Most information was brand new for me, so sometimes it was difficult to figure out what the teacher talked about. But it seemed interesting. To think about the racism from another aspect gave me new perspective. I need to know more about the poetry or literature to understand the lecture. I will take the African American in the United States class next semester.
