 Presidential election.

Since I was old enough to vote, I had three elections in Japan.

However in the United States, to have a right to vote, not only have to be a citizen (have a citizenship), over 18 years old but also other lots of detailed regulations.
Here, at Coe, some students are not residents of Iowa State, so if such students want to vote, they have to change the resident窶冱 registration. And then, most of the students live in dormitory, so they are going to use absentee ballot. Today, I helped the part of this procedure. But actually it was not helping, just looking and talking.

It was a part of the club activity. It promotes students to support Democrats, and at last, it will lead to the victory against Republican.
But, in fact, I don窶冲 know about the both party窶冱 opinion, especially in detail. Both are taking negative campaign, and sometimes they are also talking about tiny argument such as the prizes of the Vietnam War or exaggerated advertisement.

The most important and serious problem is the vote rate. In the United States, it is not so much high, but it is low; 48 percent. Only 48 percent. It is similar situation to Japan. But it is more serious because the U.S. has a great influence in the world. Lots of people died in Iraq, it hit 1000 toll since the war started. (Surprisingly, 窶廝ush lies thousand died窶 was realized.) Also in Afghanistan, many people died. Japanese government was influenced these wars, they are trying to change the constitution. It is the proof how the United States have a great power for the world.

Anyway, I want to get to know more about the election, especially about the political issues, or opinions of both side. I didn窶冲 read newspaper in such point of view because it seemed difficult, especially understanding opinions in English.

I feel strongly happy because I am able to watch the important election at here, in the United States. Everyday I hear the news about election. Atmosphere and attitude are entirely different from Japan. It will be a precious experience.
