 Star Wars Marathon.

Today, my roommate, Ben, my friend, Yoichi and myself watched the movie Star Wars Episode I together in my room. Since we are going to see Star Wars Episode III tomorrow which is going to be newly released tomorrow all over the States, and I haven窶冲 seen any of the episodes of Star Wars, I needed to see it beforehand.

Ben is so excited for the new episode and so familiar with the Star Wars stuff. He explains me the story or characters a lot, and it is very helpful. Because I have been so informed, I also became looking forward to seeing the new one.

This time, I just want to talk about the extent of the understanding of the movie in terms of the language since we are getting to the end of this one-year study; we are supposed to have improved the language skills such as listening or vocabulary.

Even though I watched the movie with the subtitles, the first-came-out vocabulary is still vague for me, and sometimes it makes more difficult for me to follow the movie. However, as I watched the Episode I, I found that, interestingly, the particular vocabulary that they used became so familiar to me. This is because there is a queen, there is a Senate, there are a lot of indefinite creatures, and there are a number of different kinds of words. For example, the queen was called Her Majesty or Your Highness in the movie, and if I wasn窶冲 familiar to this expression, it was most likely that I got confused (although I can skip it). But thanks to the kingdom of Jordan which I did an extensive research over the course of the Spring Semester, such kind of expressions was so familiar to me. (Jordan is a constitutional monarchy, so they have a king and a queen.) I was about to laugh when I heard these expressions, and at the same time, I was so glad because it was actually the first time to hear such expression in the real.

It seems to me that the every experience that I have had so far does contribute to my understanding of the movie. I wish I could follow the story tomorrow.
