 Thanksgiving Day.

Today, I visited the professor窶冱 house. He is teaching Germany and Gender Studies at Coe. His house is nearby the college. His name is John. One of my friends, Ayush, from Nepal and I went there together. John seemed to have invited many students, especially those who live far from here, but the guests were just us. It was kind of small party. This party is based on his experience. When he was a college student in California, his professor also invited him as he does today. Thanksgiving holidays are just 5 days holidays, therefore for some students, it is sometimes annoying to go back home. It will cost so much, it will take so much time. As you know, the same thing happens in Japan. Some of my friends live in Southern part of Japan, Kyushu, seldom go back to their hometown. If they use an airplane, it costs some 40 thousand yen. That窶冱 a lot of money. Staying apartment is so reasonable for them instead of flying back to hometown. (If I now try to go back to Japan, it would cost at least 70 to 80 hundreds yen.)

The party started around 5pm. Since he is a vegetarian, we didn窶冲 have any 窶徂uge窶 turkeys. (According to him, they usually have a 窶徂uge窶 turkey at Thanksgiving dinner.) It was kind of untraditional Thanksgiving. But it was lots of fun. We had pumpkin souse, avocado, free-meet something and so on, in addition, we had a good wine. These tasted so good. It no longer does matter if he was a vegetarian or not, we enjoyed dinner.

After that, we played ping pong at the basement. Ayush was really good at it and so was John. But I was not. They played rallies many times. I tried to continue rallies, but my ball hit the ceiling often, so it didn窶冲 do it so long time. We had some matches, but every time I lost. They are good player.

Then, we went up stairs again and drink wine and brandy. The brandy was so strong but it smelled and tasted so good.
We had lots of conversation. We talked various things. That was fun. In my view, his life style was not typical and different from anyone who I met so far. It seemed that he doesn窶冲 watch TV. He goes to school by walking. He lives with a cat. (His house was kind of massy though.) It looked really comfortable and relaxed life. I thought his generous, kind, and great personality might come from this life style.
