Today, we finished orientation week.

In the morning, we had a workshop for international students and their roommates. Brian was out when I was going out, so I attended by myself. First, each student introduced each other in front of the crowd, and then, studied how to spend good dormitory life. To be comfortable each other, we should have a conversation interactively, and keep flowing, never to be afraid. I thought it is important, not to be afraid, because when I have a conversation with someone else speaking English, occasionally I felt somewhat uneasiness, worrying about my own ability to talk with him or her, whether I can make myself understood though I would like to speak to. It's difficult. It needs more experience.

After the orientation, we had a class which studies Asian literature and history. All the ESL students take this class, and some American students who are interested in Asia also attend. Professor spoke Japanese time to time, some American students did as well, but the lecture mainly will be held in English. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the class.

Before we went to lunch, I dropped in a computer room to check e-mail from instructor. When I was going out the room, one of my friends talked to the teacher who teaches Mathematical Science. He told us how to think mathematically using Pizza. He talked a lot, my friends convinced, looked like had an interest, but it was quite difficult for me.

I had lunch with Brian's friends.
Then, we, Ken and I, had an audition for registration, Concert Choir. Ken has a nice voice, he was a singer in the band. He passed audition easily, but I, in contrast, passed conditionally. I had some problems with reading music, I can't vocalize the scores or notes not so well. If the teacher, Marc, and I both feel comfortable after the one week lesson, I may participate in. The class takes place 4 times a week.
After the audition, we had some free time, so Ken made me some lessons using the piano. We practiced vocalizing, especially, how to sing each notes accurately. I learned relativity of each signals, it will be helpful for vocalizing.

We had more free time, so went to the gym, for training muscles, especially for me, it means a preparation for the winter. I would like to go to ski. There are no mountains near here, but in northern part of Iowa, there are some ski resorts, friend of mine said.

Afterward, I got back to my room, and then, fell asleep. I just wanted to take a nap, but eventually, I had slept for 3 hours. I missed the dinner, so regrettable. That窶冱 why I can stay up until late today. We went to bowling center after the meeting. It窶冱 been a long time for me, but I could get good score, it was so fun.

In the weekend, we are going to have some big events, then, next week, the study starts. (08/21 3:30)
